Nakheel's latest announcement of a 1-km tall tower with 200-floors will dwarf many super-towers globally.
Dubai: Nakheel on Sunday announced plans to build the world's tallest tower, at over a dizzying one kilometre high, joining the ranks of companies in the region furiously trying to achieve the same feat.
Nakheel Harbour and Tower will be a 270 hectare development, stretching between phase two of Ibn Battuta shopping mall and the 75-kilometre Arabian Canal.
The one-kilometre-high tower will be the centre-piece of the area.

| Emaar accelerates Burj Dubai construction |

Construction of what will be the world's tallest structure, the Burj Dubai, has been stepped up to meet an accelerated schedule, Dubai developer Emaar Properties said on Tuesday, without giving further details.
The state-controlled company said metal cladding on the building is 50% complete, with the reflective material now covering 80 storeys of its exterior, an area of over 50,000 square metres.
